not sure if my prom or ecm is bad
Ok so i have a 350 tp speed density. Using a Aujp chip on a tp 305 memcal 7730 ecm. About every two weeks code 51 flashes up and the car turns into a bucking bronco. So i swapped in a different chip with a different Aujp bin and two weeks later it does it again. Am i missing a step when i burn the chip or is my ecm bad?

sounds like a bad ecm, check all your grounds behind the passenger cylinder head as well.

If you erase the chip and reuse it, does it work again?
You might have incorrect voltage going to the chip. Make sure it's getting 5V and not something else. If voltage is too low it won't work reliably, if it's too high it'll kill the chip. I don't know what chip/pinout the 7730 uses but normally the Vcc and Gnd pins are in opposite corners.
I suppose it could be a weak burn on the chip, either because of bad chips or the programmer. Also, if you haven't covered the window with something then it will gradually erase itself with exposure to light. That normally takes a long time though, not just 2 weeks.
I haven't seen a 7730 in person but if that ECM uses a plastic chip carrier, then make sure the carrier isn't damaged somehow. It needs to hold the pins tight in the socket.

Yeah it works if you erase it and re burn it. I tried swapping in a new elm and its been about a week and everything is good. Hopefully that was the issue. I heard sst chips aren't as good as atmel but idk how one could be better than the other
