CCC PROM chip burning / EEPROM compatability question
Short version: What EEPROM p/n to burn the zz4 calibration on?
Long Version:
The '84 firbird that I picked up the guy was building a ZZ4 'clone' engine (350, .030 over, corvette heads, mid-rise GMPP intake, crane cam, roller rockers, etc.) Since I'm guessing that the computer is still stock I thought I'd start with the ZZ4 ESC calibration chip to get a baseline and then tune from there... The big question I had is getting chips for the old ECM to tune - the factory chips were a ROM it seems (N82S181), there was talk of UV eraseable eprom that I found but then doing some research on the web I found reference to the 2816 EEPROM as compatible with the N82S181 chip that GM installed - has anyone used one of those successfully in a CCC computer?
I have the XDF and the BIN file and have looked it over and tweaked the timing maps to where I think the engine would run good and be a little safe initially (based upon experience with carb'd engines and mechanical distributors) so if I did it right I'm just needing a chip to burn it on and test it out!
