Idle tuning needed
Guys - Been reading all day on here about tuning. I have an ALDL Cable and an Ostrich Emulator. I understand I need to adjust the MAF Table 1. Also read that adjusting idle timeing would help as well. How do I do that? I'm using TunerProRT. Do I adjust the spark table around idle RPM?
Last question, I see guys are forcing open loop to adjust idle, is that correct? If so, what do i do to lock open loop?
Symptoms are: car runs like it has a radicle cam, shakes and bops around. Haven't data logged yet.

Re: Idle tuning needed
Playing around with TunerProRT, I see the Spark Table. I see that I can grab a chunk of cells and add 1 degree of timing at a time. Would I grab all from say 400 to 1000rpm to cover Idle?

Re: Idle tuning needed
Try making all the idle rpm cells and lv8 cells it idles in all the same timing value. Whats the motor setup? It should be 20 or so for stock car, mid 20's for mild cam, high 20's to 30 for big cams but really depends
Open loop you set by going into the constants section and lookin for closed loop enable temp. Set it high so you never reach coolant temp hot enough to engage closed loop.
Can try that first to get fueling down. Use either wideband or plug reading to find optimal idle air fuel. Then reengage closed loop and see what blms do. If they are off but you know air fuel is near stoich you can try adjusting the o2 sensor milivolt swing points
If the cam has alot of overlap it may fool the o2 sensor and cause ecm to add or subtract fuel at inappropriate times and thus cause a surging idle

Re: Idle tuning needed
What Orr said, plus, if you installed larger injectors be sure to change the injector flow rate in the BIN. IIRC, there are two, but only the double fire value is used. Can change both just to be sure.
There is a bunch of good MAF tuning info in the Tuning Guide Book sticky. Chapter 5 for the '7165 ECM.

Re: Idle tuning needed
So if my car idles around 1100 in park, should I make all the cells in the spark table, from 1200,800,600 and 400 the same (new) value and see how the car runs in idle?
