Anyone have a chip adapter fail on them?

I've had this Hypertech one for a little over 10 years now. It failed the other day...

I have another one such that when I swap it in, everything works, so I know it's this particular adapter.

Just curious if anyone else has experienced a failure like this.

Yes I used an adapter(Moates) that fit into the socket and used a spring to hold prom rather than snap fit(zero force insertion?). Over railroad tracks of a good bump it would go to limp and my car would not run right as the calpack was 6 cyl and I am 8. I ended up not using it as I needed to drive over tracks daily!
