TCC lockup w/high stall converter....

Just wondering what speeds everyone is locking up TC, if you have a higher stall converter. I am seeing the engine coolant temp go up, when i load the car and NOT locked up.......eg going up hills.......

Re: TCC lockup w/high stall converter....

Anyone??? this week had one last drive, was told to put it in 3rd going up the hill, see if it would lock, and keep temps down.....it did not lock in 3rd, and temps went up a little as usual. Now what i think i should do next, is datalog and see what the tps is doing at xx speed, and see if i can adjust some tables. For low gears, i lock/unlock at stock values. 32/30. For high gears i am at 42/40. But those numbers are used at lower %tps values....i think.

Re: TCC lockup w/high stall converter....

I have an ACT 2400RPM stall, here are some of the changes I have made...

Stock - Custom

TCC Coast Release: 255mph - 32mph
TCC Lock Low Gears Vehicle Speed: 21mph - 43mph
TCC Unlock Low Gears Vehicle Speed: 20mph - 41mph

TCC Lock High Gear Vehicle Speed: 21mph - 43mph
TCC Unlock High Gear Vehicle Speed: 20mph - 41mph

Of course all my %TPS vs. Vehicle Speed table have all been tweaked too. I would post pics of those but on my Surface Pro 3 I only know how to take an entire print screen, not just a window print screen as it has no print screen button on the keyboard for me to just alot+prntscrn.

What is your stall, 2,800? 3,200?

I got a Vigilante TC from PI several years ago, and i think i had them set it for 2800-3000 stall speed. I went a little aggressive on the speed, since i was planning on running it at the track more. Definitely helped my 60' times.

So you have your low gear and high gear lock speeds the same? How does that work? I do like having a higher lock speed for 4th, kind of gives it an extra gear, eg 4th unlocked, for some extra power when needed. but i am thinking of lowering my 4th gear settings. maybe will help my cooling issue, and mpgs as well.
