EBL Flash

Think I might have posted this in the wrong forum. Hope this is the right one.

Hey guys. Got a 69 Camaro that I will be going with TPI. My question is in regards with what is the best way to go as far as controlling it. I will be putting aluminum heads on it, ported Edelbrock base, and plenum. AS & M large tube runners. Going with a roller cam too. Lots of changes but once they're made, I'm done. Won't be changing it afterwards.

I recently scored a used Holley MPI 950 Commander with harness. Thought that was the way to go but it was pointed out tht if something goes wrong with that unit and I'm away from home, I'm out of luck. With a 730 ecm, I could have multiple chips burned with my tune to have in reserve. Given the fact that once I have my "tune" done, and am not changing it, do I need the Commander? I have heard that the Commander is difficult to get the idle tuned in and it doesn't always hold the tune in its memory.

Would I better off getting an EBL Flash to make it easier to get the tune done and then be done with it? Just get a datalogger and have somebody burn the chips for me? Skip the Flash and get a flashable chip and buy the appropriate hardware from moates? Just exactly what would I need to go the moates route?

A hundred questions I know. TGO has the rep of having the most knowledgeable self tuners on the web so I figured I'd get your opinions. Thanks.

I got four responses and all said EBL. That is cool. So what do I need to tune my speed density TPI assuming I run a 730 prom. This is a retrofit to a classic Camaro so at the most I might want to control one electric fan, and the TCC in my 200r4 trans. I am a total noob at this so excuse my ignorance. I want to make my engine mods, put the injection on, tune it, and drive it. EBL the way to go? If so,I guess I have a 950 Commander I am going to sell.

Re: EBL Flash

I can tell you the ebl is the way to go...it will control more things than the commander, way more affordable(in your case you already have it). just sell it and buy the ebl...oh and support its one of the best!
lots of ppl here using it..including myself

Re: EBL Flash

Agreed that the EBL is the way to go. Ideal for your application. I can testify to great support. It's not one person in that aspect, it's the whole forum! there's a tremendous knowledge base here.

It also allows one of the forum members to feed his family. I honestly like supporting small business rather than big boxes, particularly when that same person has done so much for the rest of us here.

Put in under the Christmas tree.

(ps... if you are like the rest of us... a "tune" is never really done. There is always something else to tweak)

Re: EBL Flash

Some retro-fit info, when mounting the ECM the case must be isolated from the chassis. This is due to the case being grounded to the engine block via the EFI harness. Grounding the case locally will have other devices in the car using the EFI grounds as there own (not good).

The EBL Flash ECM with the Port Mod is likely a better choice then the EBL P4. The reason is space, not much room under the dash of one of these cars. With the EBL Flash being slightly small and having only two harness connectors.
