Flashed the EBL with latest firmware, great results.

Just figured I'd post this. I'm running a Jeep YJ with an AMC 401 (412 CI), been running the EBL with the WB device on it with a Holley 454 TBI two barrel for 3 or 4 years I think. Since the beginning I've had a hard time tuning the Idle, had it idling in Open Loop around 950 rpm. I also had the BPC table at around 170 when it should have been at around 120 based on my specs. For the size of the engine I was never really impressed for all the money I have in it, especially the low end torque at low RPM. I had played with all kinds of settings to try and get this running good.. I had settled for an OK tune.

Well, a few weeks ago I was sitting in my garage with the laptop plugged in and browsed the EBL site and noticed a firmware update. So I flashed it.

Well I'm glad I did, after the flash I had to lower the BPC table down to the 120s cause it was way rich. I then started from scratch with the VE table from the 454 bin and got it running much better and stronger. On top of that, all my Idling problems are gone and can now idle at 500 RPM in Closed Loop. I also turned off Lean Cruise for now and might just set it for Highway speeds because I find it creates a bit of lag in throttle response. I'll play with it later.

I have no idea what big changes have been done in this latest firmware but.. THANK YOU!! I feel like I have a new Jeep. Need good power to turn 40 inch Iroks with 4.56 gears.

Re: Flashed the EBL with latest firmware, great results.

Good to hear that it worked out. Although I am somewhat puzzled by the changes in how the engine runs. Going from open loop idle to closed loop makes sense, as the proportional duration is now an actual duration.

That can really help get the gains dialed in properly.

There were other changes (see the EBL Flash update page for a list of changes), but none of them should have had this affect. Well, at least that I know of.

Good job!

RBob.
