winaldl interface NEWBIE !
Hi list
I'm very new with this, but eager to learn.
my car has the C3 electronic carb.
I built the pc serial ALDL interface (1 transistr, several resistors)
with
3- wires going into the ALDL (car)
2- wires going into the 9-pin female serial piece to plug in (PC)
Questions :
1) on my computer the serial port is labeled as "com2"
is there anything else I need to change on control panel. the
program does not pick up any data no matter what I select.
2) does the car throw the data at the ALDL with out the CHECK ENGINE light flashing, or do I need to ground "A" & "B" w/ a ppr clip or some resistor value ?
I did multi-meter the 2222 transistor and it was switch accrdg to the fluctuating voltages.
WHAT AM I DOING WRONG ?

I believe the CCC (computer controlled carbueretor) cars won't send data unless they're in ALDL mode (A&B pins shorted.) They already sent out 12v signals, so it may be that you don't need a transistor, but I wouldn't trust it. (I'd rather blow up a $.99 transistor than a $200 laptop or worse yet, your ECM.)
Set WinALDL to COM2, and give that a shot.
