NVSRAM $8D revival - Tunerpro support?
It has been a while since I messed with a 730 ECM and $8D. Back in 2009 there was some threads mentioning that tunerpro might support the NVSRAM Mode 4 command change.
I didn't see anything on the tunerpro website. How are all y'all making your updates with the NVSRAM module?

I would love to see support in tunerpro for this too, I have just started using the NVSRAM and 8D and I think its a great and very cost effective solution. I use the windows based GUI to update mine now but I had a heck of a time finding the files to get it to work and that is on an old XP laptop, Ive never tried it on anything newer.

Re: NVSRAM $8D revival - Tunerpro support?
Still have to use the tool provided by MonteCarSlow but...
I've changed the individual files to have a common file name for the bin and then make shortcut calls from TP to execute them.
I created UPLOAD, DOWNLOAD, RESET Shortcuts in TP for the 3 individual modified files with similar names.
The only catch is that I can't disconnect the Comm from logging, execute my command and then start the comm again in TP.
There currently is no way to access the comm port commands with shortcuts.
I had a writeup somewhere of what I did. Wil look for it.
Pretty much used the shortcut as a command line with parameters, let "Wish" work from Windows.
Works good, just have to do the disconnect reconnect manually.
I would also like to mod the files to use a bin name variable (current TP bin name and location) but my little mind didn't know how at the time.
Probably still doesn't

Re: NVSRAM $8D revival - Tunerpro support?
It looks like there is a "plug in" feature in TP5. I still use TP4 because I like the individual graphs better than the one graph wtih variable axis.
If anyone has the docs showing what functions the plug in has, we could write some stuff to update the NVRAM on the fly without comm port conflicts.
Another option is to write a small program that monitors the comm port and bin file for changes. If the comm is free (disconnect in TP every so often) and the bin has changed, then write the updates using the comm port. I remember TP4 was fixed to release the comm port when the connection was disabled. Not sure if TP5 does the same.
It is a work around. The plug-in would be best.
Another thought is to use the plug-in for the $12P code. Change the NVSRAM to use the same protocol used in that application.

Awhile back I suggested to the guy who wrote the ALDLdroid App that he should add support for this device, At the time he said he was working on implementing support for the 12P device and he would look at it after that was done, But there seems to be so little interest/demand that i doubt it will happen.

Re: NVSRAM $8D revival - Tunerpro support?
Hey guys! I don't know what prompted me this morning to search for nvsram, but I just found this. It's been a while since I used my own stuff, but this summer I had to dig everything out of storage.
What's this $12P code? Got a link?

The $12 in from Antus at PCMHacking.net
https://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1396
He made some custom stuff for the Holden but doesn't work with our stuff.
Glad to see your interested
I don't think it would take that much to make this happen, just need some people smarter than me
I am still running mine with no issues so it would be nice to get the interface tweaked to make it easier.

Re: NVSRAM $8D revival - Tunerpro support?
Has anyone got this working on anything newer than Windows XP? I would really like to buy the NVSRAM from moates for the 7730 ecm I have.
I have Windows 10 x64 bit and was trying to install the RTP4 Tools and GUI without any luck.
I couldn't get any of the RTP Tools to install or the GUI.
I think part of the problem may be the active tcl program I have is too new. I keep getting the can't find package lwidgets. Does anyone an older version of this they could post that they know works with the GUI?

Re: NVSRAM $8D revival - Tunerpro support?
Aprevious poster said he set "Wish.exe" to run XP compatible on Win 7 to make it work.
ref this thread,
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/diy-...ram-vista.html
Maybe that trick will work with Win 10, I don't have any Win 10 to check it.

Re: NVSRAM $8D revival - Tunerpro support?
OK so I got a chance to work with this a bit...
I followed JP86SS and did the following:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Create a Custom tool
Name = NVSRAM Tools
Tool Path = C:\Tcl\Bin\Wish.exe (Substitute your actual path if needed)
Cmd Parameters = C:\ blah \ blah\ RTP4-Tool.Tcl (This file's location)
Create a keyboard shortcut in TP (What ever you like)
Do your edit, save the bin.
Then when you want to upload your bin, disconnect your logging connection and hit your hot key.
The dialog will come up and you can then dump your changed bin.
You can then close the NVSRAM tool and reconnect the logging.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I was able to install the latest version of activetcl and the rtp4 tools.
I just wanted to make sure this is all I needed to do before I order the NVSRAM. I wanted to make sure I didn't need the GUI or anything else. Is there any way to test this?
Also, since the NVSRAM has an EEPROM on the board, if for some reason the NVSRAM does not work I assume it will default to the EEPROM load? (essentially it works just as well as an GP1 adapter at that point.)

Re: NVSRAM $8D revival - Tunerpro support?
You MUST be able to run the GUI in Windows.
(RTP4-Tool.Tcl must open and be set to the correct comm port prior to using in TP)
The shortcut through TP only calls the GUI function button in the background.

Re: NVSRAM $8D revival - Tunerpro support?
OK I finally got the GUI to work!!! If anyone else is looking to do this then they will need an older version of activetcl. I have found version 4.20.0. It looks to exceed the size limit for an attachment at 34MB so if anyone else wants this file feel free to PM me. I am using it with Windows 10 64 bit. Thanks for the support!

That was 2016 ebay link. Try this you might be able to haggle a much lower price. It’s been on eBay for a few months.

Here is the TCL script file attached
I still use Active TCL version 8.4 (newer ones available, just never tried them)
This is the full name: ActiveTcl8.4.12.0.226725-win32-ix86-threaded.exe
The download site for this version here: Active TCL Ver 8.4 something
I run Win 7 on my tuning laptop so not sure how it works with other versions.
