yes they do, so unless the 88 is a GTA with VATS, then you will need to tune vats out, or bypass it with the use of the vats box and the key for the 89 car.
Other than that its a direct plug in
thanks RBob for catching that, I am so used to my 88 having VATS that i sometimes forget that not all cars came with VATS in 88
