Idle Air Control Mtr counts?
Idle Air Control Mtr counts?
What should your IAC counts be at idle? When I shoot for the 450rpm disconnected in drive they sit at 18 counts at 750ish rpm connected. I left everything connected and set the counts at 30, then I disconnected the IAC and the EST and reset the system without adjusting the throttle. Now the car idles at 850-900 in drive and the counts are at 0. The timing never changed even with the slight rpm increase. The guys at T.P.I. spec told me they should be at 30 counts at Idle. I am lost. The moter seems alot happier at this rpm than it did before, no test drive yet though. Check out my sig for cam specs. What should it idle at?
IAC counts at 0 means the IAC is trying to reduce idle speed to hit the configured idle RPM and has hit it's limit. You probably have the min air screw too far in.
I set mine with the scanner connected, engine idling at running temp, and adjust the min air screw until I am at the configured idle @ 20 counts. No disconnecting things, no ECM resets.
Just keep an eye on the scanner, if counts > 20 I turn the min air screw inward...if counts < 20 I turn the min air screw outward.
I have my idle set in software to 725rpm, with the HOT cam it rattles my teeth any lower than that.
