Mercruizer(sp) aka ramjet computers

Does anyone know about reprograming the Mercruizer(sp) aka ramjet ecm's? These are the ecms used in many marine applications and on the ramjet series of GM crate engines. I know a guy with a bunch of these with the wiring harnesses and ecms. They use the good ol' TPI distributor, and have no O2 sensor. I heard that ASM can reprogram them, but has anyone hacked these things yet? Or does anyone know where more info might be found on them? Might be a good and cheap possibility for us hobbyists.

I was under the impression that nobody has yet hacked these ecms. The only people I'm aware of that can program them are AS&M, Merc (here in stillwater), and GM. Moreover, it may take some special equipment to program them. The DIY prom guys have recommended ramjet people change ecms and do their own programming. Thirdgen computers are still real cheap...

I agree with Grumpy: I see them cheaper (<$500) all the time amongst my boat racing buddies but still no good if you can't screw with them. Plus look liek ran in a salt bath for tesing half the time...

Bad, unless you run EXACTLY the combo that the ECU was made for, that is, ie RAMJET 350, RamJet 502 or other marine application. And, if you don't encounter hefty elevation changes and/or temp changes, as boats do not. Well, maybe a few feet of elevation change is ok in a boat...
