Upgrade my 165 to 445 worth it?
I've read that later versions of the 165 were released. The latest ending in 445.
I've had trouble datalogging my 165 ECM.
Does anyone have any experience with the later releases of the 165? Are they easier to datalog? Any other advantages?
Thanks in advance.

They all exhibit the random disconnecting behavior. I have a later GM reman. Supposedly they addressed the circuit board cracking issues. The 8192 baud communication drop problem is apparently a hardware glitch and to my knowledge, no one has ever solved it.

Yeah - it didn't matter to GM in practice. For the dealership tech's it wasn't an issue since they rarely had to do anything involving long time spans of data-logging. I'm sure it wasn't ideal but they just dealt with it seemingly. When you aren't tuning (because of course the dealer only dealt with completely stock configurations) it's not an issue. They don't stop running when they disconnect. You just lose the data stream and have to key cycle it.
Agreed it is a pain in the ***. But you can work around it.
