Does anybdy still use TunerCat?

And if so... has anyone found that this connects to the '165 ECM better than tunerpro RT v5?

Tunercat doesn't have ALDL, so it doesn't connect to any ECM.

I know your were getting bogus info with tp like emi or something.
Have you tried winaldl or tts datamaster might still be out on the net.
Winaldl seems to connect to the 165 easily but sometimes drops after the 10k is removed. Don't leave it in the 10k mode and drive pinging can occur. I. Eli eve the timing gets locked and rpm adder is active during this mode.
