Highway mode

Is there any harm in lowering Highway mode enable temps. I found a bin with the Highway mode enabled so I used those settings in my own bin. I drive to work at night and even though I live in Phoenix, during the ride to work my engine temp never gets to the enable temp that I transfered from the bin I found. My engine temp gets to about 186,but the enable temp is 190. If I lowered it to 182 would there be any potential harm? I drive 32 miles to work and back, most of which is freeway. I would like to take advantage of this function. Any thoughts?

Thanks Tom

I have my enable temp set to 140 degrees F. By then, I'm already in closed loop and probably have been on the highway enough to stabilize the block learns. You (or I) could go even lower, but the engine's parameters are pretty stable (sounds like a medical phrase) by 140 degrees or so.

No harm, go for it. Since you have a nice 32 mile freeway drive to work, you could really make some gains with highway mode. Mine is set to enable at 169F, and at 50 mph. But I don't have many highway miles to get to work, like maybe 5. I take a back road from my house, and I usually don't get above 50, plus I don't really want highway then either. I have the 2.77 gears, so the motor just lugs along around 40. In other words, I haven't really noticed any mpg gains yet, but I know it works.

The nice thing about highway mode, is there are several "conditions" that must be met, in order to kick it in. Kind of nice, you can taylor it to your own driving style. Plus you can lean it out even some more with the table. Do a search on highway mode, there are many posts on this topic.
