Difference between AUM 8993 and AUM 3236

Helping a fellow member that has a suspect (might be bad) AUM 8993. I have my old PROM which is an AUM 3236. Both are 86 Trans Am's. I know it will work, but I suspect one is a newer update than the other. The other choice is to burn the AUM off of gearhead efi's archives to a prom adapter - but I don't know what version that one is either - it's just listed as AUM.BIN. Can someone clarify this?

Re: Difference between AUM 8993 and AUM 3236

Upon further discussion, they already installed Bosch III's so it's better if I just send along a chip/adapter with the right offsets and injector scaling. I'm going to send them a reman 7165 I have (I'm upgrading to EBL on my car) along with a $6E for the Bosch III's .

Apparently they have the wrong ECM from Cardone, sent their original back as a core, and can't order the right one due to unavailable..... and they want to ensure the existing PROM isn't bad.... but with the injector change it's moot anyway.

Thanks for the links though. That's very useful to know. How do you determine the release dates?

That's an interesting bit of software. I may have to order a license for that at some point.

I’m suprized they can get a 77-7165 . They are on eBay but cost to much imo. Gearhead use to have a similar program called bcc find. Very useful.

It's at a shop and honestly I doubt an ECM is going to fix it..... you know how this goes. But at this point they want a tested ECM/PROM combo and my car can serve as a test mule to rule out this line of diagnosis. My guess is the car ends up being towed to me. But who knows.
