Question about timing....
Question about timing....
I have a question about PROM burning and timing. Can you set the base timing through PROM burning? If so, let's say I set it at 8 degrees, will it read just like normal at 8 degrees at the crank with a timing light without having to turn the distributor? This is for a 90-92 350 TPI speed density. Thanks in advance.

No. You will always have to set the base with a timing light. Setting it in the bin is just a reference to where the base timing is.
If you set the base at 6 degrees you need to set the base in your bin at 6 degrees. Now your ECM will add or subtract timing based on what spark advance it needs based on where the base timing is set at. Changing the base timing in your bin will not magicaly adjust your distributer.

You can accomplish the same effect as "twisting" the distributor a couple degrees by adding it to the entire spark table (TunerCat has a feature for that) - but that is not necessarily the "best" spark curve.
