EBL Flash and Windows 11

I had just done my Windows 11 install and everything seemed OK. That is, until I tried to load a new bin file into my ECM. I have the older model EBL Flash that uses a serial to USB adapter and I could not find a Windows 11 driver that was compatible with my adapter. There is probably a work around but I will let someone else figure that out. I did find that it it really easy to go back to windows 10 so all is good now. As Roseanne Roseannadanna said " it just goes to show you,— if it’s not one thing, it's another. but it's always something"

If this is an FTDI Serial/USB adapter cable, driver(s) can be found here:

https://ftdichip.com/drivers/vcp-drivers/

Not only the latest, but they are now providing access to the older drivers. Can't beat the FTDI folks, they do produce good products....

I am using a Prolific PL2303 and the latest driver for windows 11 did not work for me. My research found other users reported a problem with it also. I just wanted to remind people that even Microsoft warns some hardware and apps may not be compatible with windows 11. I 'd rather let others work the bugs out. I am using this cable
Amazon Amazon
. I like it because the adapters are secured with zip ties under the passenger seat. Only the cable with the usb connector are visible by the center console and there is less strain on the usb port while plugged in to the pc.

Yes, the Prolific chip set leaves a bit to be desired. We always used USB/Serial cables with FTDI chip sets. Along with implementing FTDI chips into products.

It is good that you got it going...

From the link you quoted:

"*Includes the following version of the Windows operating system: Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1, Windows 10, Windows 11, Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows server 2012 R2."

It's frustrating when new OS installations throw a wrench in our plans! Rolling back to Windows 10 sounds like a sensible solution for now. If you're ever considering another upgrade, keeping an eye out for windows 11 cheap deals could be helpful. As Roseanne Roseannadanna wisely said, it's always something, but we find a way to make it work!
