Thanks for all the info

'7730 was used in F-Body from 90-92 on TPI system (speed density) and MPFI V6
'7165 was used in F-Body from 86-89 on TPI system (MAF)
'6870 was used in F-Body in 1985 for TPI system

Re: Obd1 Alternatives

The Batronix burner is a great tool too. You can do eeprom and uv erasable.
software is easy to understand as well

https://www.newark.com/batronix/bx32...-ii/dp/53M6869

does 90-92 27c256
86-89 27c128
85 2732
sst27sf512 can be used for all Tpi applications just change offsets. There use to be a moates adapter to use in the 85 but it’s a slow baud rate ecm better to update to the 1227165.

Personally I do not like the early MAFs and have converted several 1227165s to speed density.

$12p ? Or 730 /727 ? The 165 is much better than a 870 just can be picky on datalogging.

$12P because the 7730 stuff, especially Memcals are starting to get hard to find and $$$ when you find them. Was far simpler to re-use the 7165 using $12P.

The Australian & New Zealand guys have developed $12P into a performance code as well, similar to S-AUJP or $59. From memory both the performance version of $12P as well as $59 even allow wideband closed loop at all throttle positions.

Re: Obd1 Alternatives

The Nice part about $12p is you can flash the code through the aldl link like an emulator. This takes an add on board but add the ability for wideband integration. They use the same type nvram that monicarslo used on the 7730 that very few used. S_AUJP Version 7 can do the same thing if you have the hardware for it.
Don't know why the last part comes up in bold txt ,

Re: Obd1 Alternatives

It's a shame they didn't become more popular as they make tuning a lot easier.

Re: Obd1 Alternatives

I bet, I built a kit from moates years ago then found a ecm with it installed.
I think the moates pcb and supplies was only $45not a bad deal.
