My brother is studying to be an electrical/computer engineer. He gets all these electronics magazines with all sorts of gadgets and projects.
He brought home this one issue with a DIY ECM in it. It's a MAP system with all the inputs for MAT, MAP, O2, CTS and so on. But I don't see any kind of output for an IAC. All I can see is this thing called "fast idle control".
It also has a 9 pin serial connection so you can program it on the fly. It looks like the output connector is a 25 pin parallel
If anyone is interested, I'll try to get my POS scanner to work so I can copy the article.

fast idle control is probably an "on/off" for a bumper solenoid to bump the throtle shaft a bit to increase idle speed. Like an IAC with only two positions, if you will. Like the ProJection 2bbl Digital systems I have. Actually doesn't work all that bad. Better than a carb with no choke availability, that's for sure.
