I'm working on a TPI 86 corvette code 36 problem. The burn off relay has five wires not four like the service manual shows. They are orange, orange, green, black, blue. The last repair shop installed a new relay with a part number that is listed as correct for this application but it can't work because there is no power to the coil. There is a green wire where the diagram shows an orange power wire. The owner is a good friend I'm trying to help out. He has had car for 20+ years and says he never changed any wiring. I have read old threads about 86's using a different relay for burn off and not using the GM relay causes maf problems. Should I just rewire the connector to match the diagram and relay?
My other options are turning off the code 36 in the bin file, but my $32 XDF does not show that one. Or I coud transfer data from this bin to a 6E and burn a new chip. It is a 383 super ram, afr 190, 219 cam dyno tuned by a big name tuner so that might take some time to check all the differences. I can't just do the difference tool because of different xdf's. Any thoughts?
The 165 should be wired like this in a f body or y body. Im
suprised the tuner didn’t update to $6e to begin with. But like I mentioned in your other post tuner cat sells a $32, $32B and $6e with the flag check.
