6e fan request

I've done a search on this, and couldn't quite find the answer I was looking for, so I thought I would ask. I'm doing a chip for a friends 86, and am using the 6e file. Does the fan need to be normally open or closed. I know on my 85 when you unplug the switch the fan runs, so it is normally closed. Is the 86 and 85 the same (meaning I would leaved the "normally open fan request flag un "xed"". It wouldn't be a problem, but he lives out of town and I am soldering the stuff on his memcal for him, so if I don't get it right it is a pain. Thanks

I have an '86 and am running the $6E code. My "normally open fan request flag" is Xed, meaning checked, and it works properly.
