I really hate to ask this but here it goes.....

I know that this question has no true answer here but maybe it can be a starting point for me. here is my set-up:

roller 406 with 195 AFR's custom Re-trofit roller cam 230/236 112LSA .510 .520 lift.

I am running a 92 Z28 computer with a Superram and 30 lb. injectors. No EGR no worries about emisions or any of that.

I just want to know where to begin witgh the chip. I got the tunercat program. I haven't tried to start the car yet but I just want a program to have it run alright for break-in, I don't expect to get the perfect PROM from your answers but I am hoping that some of the people that know what they are doing can send me in the right direction. I know you guys can't just post the perfect program on here that I have to find that myself I was just looking for a starting point. Until then I am just :lala:

Ooohhhh.... Me likes your choice of components for that 406... . That should make some serious power!

I really wish I could help more, but I am not very well-versed on the SD systems.... I would probably go ahead and set the idle fairly high (maybe around 900rpm) for right now so it doesn't want to die all the time while you figure out the rest of the tune..... Set all of the constants for your engine like the cylinder volume and injector size...... Maybe give the timing tables a look and set them where you think it should be (ie. what the manufacturers recommend for your components). Pretty much need to get it started and log some data to even get started on the BLMs.....

Well, maybe that helps....
Good Luck!
Matt

Yeah thanks for the info. I have gone through the switches and constants table and I pretty much understand those two. I take a look at the advance vs. RPM vs. load and my head spins though. What is generally good to set for a total timing? When is a good RPM to have the advance start coming in? Would a scan tool tell how much "load" is on a car at a certain RPM? Or is there a standard? sorry I will try to keep down on the questions.
