Lean? Rich? How do I tell?

I have a few last questions and concerns about burning my own chip.

How can I tell if i am running lean or rich? Does the craig moates software tell me this via the air/fuel ratio? OR do i look at the BLM INT?

I am considering getting a chip burnned for me at a shop for about 100$ more than the entire kit and it will be burnned on a dyno with a wide band inplace. Is this necessary? I mean, If I know that I need to stay around 128 on the BLM, I can not see this being necessary?

Also, how do you use the flash chips on the 730 ecm? for a 91 Z28 speed density car?

All Help is greatly apricated!

And thank you glenn for clearifying some things for me! Sorry our call was cut short. I will email you and set up another call sometime soon.

You tell the same way everyone has for years, you do plug readings.
BLs are just closed loop corrections.
A WB can be helpful.
Dyno burnt chips are great for driving your car on a dyno. Trouble is there are few stops lights, and hills, and not one item about drivibility is taken care of doing that. Plus your forever chained to asking him to make any little change in your prom

So what does the BLM 128 value tell me? Also, what should the O2 voltage read? I guess what i am asking is what are the safe limits interms of O2 voltages?

Numbers greater then 128 means your ecm is adding fuel, and less then 128 your removing fuel.
On the O2 more then .44v means your richer then 14.7 and less then .44. means your leaner then 14.7:1

I must be running extremely rich! my o2 voltages were as high as 8.45mv, my BLM code was showing between 108 and 118 at 45mph constant speed via a xp240. I will get my cable so I can use Craig Moates software and try that out.

What should my injector pulse be set at? I plan to purchase the kit very VERY soon, I have 24lb injectors and wonder what a good starting point would be to set the injectors at?

Thanks again!
