newbie eprom question

I just got the Pocket Programmer 2 and pulled my e prom out of my car. How does it plug into the programmer. I have a 1988 TBI. The pins on the programmer are horizontal and on my eprom they're vertical.

I surmise from your question that you are referring to the flat shape part of the prom pins being at 90* to the clamping jaws of the PP2. That works okay, because the clamping is gentle, and the jaws hold the very narrow lower part of the pins. (I do assume that you have removed the prom from the ECM).

I wasn't sure if i should take off the plastic carrier, now I know, thanks for the help. Do they make an adapter where I wouldn't have to take the chip out of the plastic?

That would be handy! One would have to modify the carrier just a little bit to erase it. I have an extra 7747, I may solder a ZIF into it.
