changing auto to manual tbi caprice, can it be done?
I have a 92/93 caprice cop cruiser ecm($62 type prom code). Problem is, I'm going to run it in a malibu wagon on a 350, and I'm planning on changing to a 5 speed. It seems on all the threads I've searched on, the best way to get out of the problems changing from auto to manual is to change the bin/memcal to a manual one, becuase there are alot of changes within the code itself, not just a 'switch'. I doubt that there ever was a bin made which used a manual trans on this ecm(16136965). Can I still get good results tuning not being able to change to a bin that is a manual trans one? If I can, how specifically should I do this?? Any help is appreciated. BTW if anyone is interested in this BIN image, I can give it to you, the throttle reponse on my engine stand is awesome(no trans load). The fuel and spark maps seem to be pretty aggressive.

Manual tranny bins tend to have very diferent IAC stuff in them.
But, it would be worth a shot.
If it doesn't work out then just plug in a different ecm that was used in a manual application (of course vrifing the pinout)

what types of operational problems would I see in doing this specifically? I've read alot of posts, but there isn't really a clear answer as to the main problems, I've seen posts saying problems with idle recovery in deceleration, but otherwise its been somewhat vague as to what exactly happens. Is there some sort of PID loop or something that can have the values tweaked to improve operation? Thanks as always....
