165 ECM (1986 Camaro) ALDL Cable

Hey guys.. I went out to the local electronics store today and got the parts to build a 1 trans and a 2 trans ALDL cable.

The 1 trans wouldn't work at all..

The 2 trans worked kinda.. Craig's software wouldn't link up, however WinALDL linked up. WinALDL was only populating 1 field.

I had the 10k resistor between A&B and my data cable plugged into E.

On the 2 transistor cable, can everything share a common ground through pin A?

Is there something special I need to do? Or is the 2&1 trans. cable not compatable?

Thanks!

This 160 baud cable worked for WinALDL for me.

these images are taken from www.winaldl.webhop.net

the 8192 baud cable is a little trickier to make...

Had I taken the time to read this on Craig's page.. I probably could have saved myself a bunch of headache..

Note: Most people have problems running the program with any OS newer than Win98.
I guess that would make XP a bit out of the question

Boot up a DOS disk, it might work fine... Worth a try, easy attempt...
