wiring up dual fans from a Lumina?
wiring up dual fans from a Lumina?
My fan's singing it's death song (Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeongongeeeeeee) and I'm wondering if a set of two (slightly) smaller fans from a Lumina would work just as well? The fan that's on it is hotwired to the ignition, and I want to set one of the new ones up in the factory manner...Some creativity with some sheetmetal, some wiring, a relay, a switch for the second one...Anyone have any experience?

I wouldn't think the size would make much of any differance (except maybe a slightly less elec draw on the car).
Here's a simple diag of a non-ECM controlled fan (LG4, TBI). The only other thing on the green/white ground wire (spliced inline) would be a ground (green wire) from the HVAC controls to kick the fan on when you turn on the A/C
*edit, oh yea, the fan switch goes/is in the pass. side head.

Thanks, DB. Can I run power off the fuse block for the relay, too, or does that need to come directly for the battery?
Example: my fogs and relay are run off ingition power from the fuse block.

If you're talking the +12v to power the fan itself, technically, you could but, personally, I'd run the wire from the battery. 1, less taxing on whatever circuit you're tapping into on the fuse panel (plus the circuit wiring might not agree with it.. i.e., burnt up wiring/possible elec fire) and 2, it's a shorter distance to the battery & no firewall to go thru.
