Help! My Temp Tach reads 260!!!
Help! My Temp Tach reads 260!!!
It is reading 260 all the time. I was looking over my engine bay, and came across a wire that was hanging down beside the driver's side manifold loose. I connected this wire to a bolt near by and now my temp tach reads 260. This is the only wire that was loose and so I connected it to a bolt near by.
Does anyone hear know where this wire goes attached?
It is a green wire i believe. Thanks all !!!!!

There's a temp sender screwed in on the driver's side head. It's got a little buttonhead looking thing. Attach it to that. It should just clip over it from the side. I don't know how you managed to "connect" it to a bolt, but from the sound of things, the connector is no longer on the wire. You may have to solder a new connector on. Just grab one from a car at a junkyard as I can't imagine being able to get a parts guy to understand what you're looking for.
By the way, when you say "temp tach" that doesn't make any sense. A "tach" is short for "tachometer" which is a gauge that shows you the engine's RPM speed. What you're talking about is called a "coolant temperature gauge" or "temp gauge" for short. And even then, don't take it's reading as gospel, as it's fairly inacurate.
