My beloved Z28 needs another wheel. I found a wheel of similiar design from a Berl. that has the cruise functions in the wheel.

1. Will it fit?

2. Can I hook the buttons to my turn signal cruise?

I believe the Berlinetta wheel will physically fit on the Z28 column. The question about the cruise control is more in line on the Electronics forum. Therefore, it is being transferred.

The Berlinetta steering wheel with cruise buttons has a 3 prong connector for the cuise control functions, in addition to the standard single contact connector for the horn switch. Connecting the 3 cruise ctrl wires to the column will require the slip ring disc with the mating 3 prong connector, and the slip ring contact plate (column harness) from a Berlinetta. The Berlinetta slip ring disc has 3 narrow contact surfaces (one ring is split, so if you turn the wheel 180 degrees from straight, the cruise button functions swap), compared to the single large ring on standard GM column slip ring discs. If you find a harness from a Berlinetta W/O cruise, you can make the remaining 3 contacts, that are not populated, with 3 small brass nails (smooth out the pointy ends, 3 small springs, and some brass shim stock material to hold the spring pins in the plate. GM has discontinued the Berlinetta steering column harness.

If you install the 3 contact slip ring setup, you can wire up the cruise to the steering wheel & leave the power on / off function on the turn signal switch control.
