Dreaded Firebird Headlights
When I purchased my car, the previous owner told me that the headlights would go up and down if I replaced the relays. Ok no biggie. I relpace three relays (I think they were all for the headlights) and all of the sudden everything works perfectly! I was soooo happy. A couple weeks later they stopped going up and down again. It has been like that for about a year now and Im sick of manually cranking up and down my headlights and I dont want to do have to do that in the dead of winter. Can anyone tell me what to check first?

here is what you can do, change your relays again. check all of the wiring, all of it,make sure there are no breaks or possible shorts, repair as neccessary, if you have a friend that has a firebird around the same model year, pop out your door motors and connect them to his harness, do they work??. check your fuse panel, are there any burned fuses?. Have you had any problems with your headlight/parking light switch????. do you have a shop manual for the car?. if so, check all of the components for these lights, if all else fails, replace everything.
hope this helps

thanks cougar, I was gonna replace them again soon but I dont know if I got ALL of the headlight relays the last time. Does anyone know where all of the relays are located? There is one huge relay I dont know what its for but its by the battery and I think its an original, it looks pretty old. Im going to take it to a dealer with the part # and have them look it up. thanks again. any one else have any other ideas?
P.S. there has got to be some sort of other electrical problem for it to crap out so quickly. I want to get that sorted out before I sink more money into relays again. new motors cost a fortune but I was just looking through the old board archives and someone said they replaced the motors and now he has no problems. Also there was a guy who said you can get some kind of gel that is supposed to be inside the motor but it wears out after a while. I dont know if its worth it or not.
