my window motor experience
my window motor experience
I got a rebuilt motor for 55 bucks.. it works fine now, but i don't know how long it will last. (but having the window down is great!)
getting the door panel to come off along the top was a mystery.. there are three points where it hooks onto the door.. I started on the outer one, which is about 6" inward from the rear of the door, pushed it in towards the window and pulled up at the same time, and the next 2 hooks are easy after that.
pretty much everything in the Power Windows 101 article applied.. except I could not drill out the rivets, I had to use a grinder to grind them off.
I couldn't get the assembly out of the door unless I unbolted the bottom part of the vertical track .. the one towards the rear of the door.. and slid the whole thing out in front of it, instead of behind it. The same applied to getting it back in.
My passenger side motor isn't as bad as the drivers side one, so I might be able to pass the safety inspection now...
