ignition coil question
If I get the Crane Cams Fireball in cap ignition coil should I increase my spark gap? I was also looking at the Pertronix coil in Jegs catalog. They say this is a 50,000 volt coil, anybody know if this is any good?

Hypertech also makes a 53K volt reoplacement coil (the stock coil is 38K volts). Here are the recommendations from Jacobs, when using one of their complete ignition systems:
Gap at 0.040” max for NOS or forced induction, or 0.055” (0.015” to 0.020” over stock) max, but not over 0.070” for normal aspiration.
Keep in mind that this system uses a microcontroller to monitor the energy requirment for each cylinder, so it is capable of firing a wider gap than an aftermarket coil switched by the module in the distributor.
