window-mount 3rd brake light

i have an '89 firebird gta. it already has a 3rd brake light but it's mounted with the aerowing spoiler which i am going to get rid of.
i want to get a 91-92 high rise spoiler and put a 3rd brake light mounted to the top of the rear window so i keep the lines clean. has anyone done this before / is there any forseeable obstacle to doing this? would it be possible to power it off the rear defroster ?
any help would be greatly appreciated

thx

Piece of cake, bro. First off, you can't power it off the defroster. The best option for you IMO is to get a 91-92 rear hatch...the whole damn thing. The hatch has a mount on it that the light mounts in. You should be able to get one for $50-100 or less...mine was free

This light doesn't run off of the contacts on the back of the hatch like your '89 does. The wiring for the light runs up along with the dome light circuit but is powered off the brake light circuit. When you get the hatch, get the dome light wiring and the rear light too, and don't cut any of it. If it's gone, they're plentiful so you can get one later, I have an extra also. This harness unplugs behind the driver's kick panel, just follow the wiring down. The rear light plugs into this harness right behind the dome light. Also, get the plastic piece that fits in the overhead right in front of the rear hatch. You'll need this to mount the part of the light housing. It's pretty much a pull and switch thing. You'll have to look at the wiring to totally understand it but that's about it.

Any questions, let me know.
