Here is a WEIRD one...

[COLOR=teal]I was driving my car today to the track for the first time after the motor rebuild (details later:-)) and all of a sudden I lose my fuel and the car shut down. I had it towed home because all of the fuses were good. I was just looking things over under the hood and for some reason something told me to look at something. Here there was a box under the radiator fan with a clip in it. I removed the clip and sure enough there was a fuse underneath. It was blown. I put in a fuse and the pump came to life. It fired right up. Went down the raod to the track and got maybe 400 yards and it did it again. Now every time I try to stick a fuse in, it blows. It seems like there is a short. Where could it be? THe clip that is plugged into the pump is in ok. I am not sure where it passes throught the frame though. Can anyone tell me if that fuse runs anything else? It sure is in a WEIRD place. Any info that you can share with me would be helpful. Thanks guys.

I would double check a short, by disconnecting the battery than doing a ohms test between the wire, & chassie ground. This would confirm a short, and you might need to trace it down to where it's chaffing.
If nothing you might have a pump thats drawing more amps than your allowing or it's getting old, and requiring more amps. The most draw is when it fired up.

Beyond that, you might just rewire it instead spending hours scratching your head over it.

Good Luck,

Ron

got it

I got it. It was a short of a wire near the sending unit of the oil pressure gauge. It was disconnected for the auto meter one that I installed and just got worn through. Thanks for the help
