Wiper delay assembly source?

I found that my windshield wiper delay board has gone bad- it won't run the washer pump anymore (doesn't turn it on, and I did verify with the voltmeter that it is getting a turn-on signal from the pump switch on the turn signal stalk). Now I can go to the local car parts store for a complete wiper motor assembly (no, they said they don't carry the circuit/cover unit itself, gotta buy the whole darn thing) but I'd rather keep it simple by just replacing the wiper gearbox cover (containing the delay board) and be done with it. I haven't checked the dealer yet to see how much that'll run (I'm afraid to ask... )

I'd rather not get a junkyard replacement if I can help it - but if I have to do that, are the delay wiper motors pretty much interchangable for around the early '80s third-gen? Or will I need one specific to a '84?

Failing any of the above, is there some place that sells rebuilt boards, or can repair them?
Thanks!

Definitely check with the dealer, because sometimes they do have fair prices.

As far as I know, there are only a very few GM wiper motors in existence. Basically, it's a matter of whether or not it has delay wipers, and whether the washer pump is built into the motor, or there's an electric washer pump inside the tank.

Just go to the junkyard and find any '80s GM car with delay wipers, verify that the piece looks the same as yours, and you shouldn't have a problem

An 85-87 wiper motor cover lists for $82.50 at the dealer. I recently priced them. Other years prolly cost about the same.

Update - found a new motor assembly in a salvage yard for $40. Transplanted the board/cover assembly from the salvage motor to my current motor - Delay board works fine, now. My problem was that the electric washer motor wasn't coming on, and replacing it didn't help. Turned out both the washer motor AND the delay board (that directly controls the washer motor) had gone bad. All I can figure is one of them went bad (probably shorted out?) and because of that it took out the other component.

Anyway, we're fixed- thanks for the help everyone!

BTW Justin- the dealer wanted $83 for a '84 board, too. Thought that was a bit excessive for just a board, so I went the salvage route....

You think thats bad. The dealer wants $122 for the turn signal lever with cruise and pulse wipers. $122 for just a peice of plastic!! Least i got it cheap from Dal.

FYI. I just replaced my washer pump / circuit board in my beater 85 Caprice (GM vehicle). Got it from Autozone for $24.99 !!! The first one they sold me died after 2 weeks, but got a free replacement. Hoping this one survives longer !!
