89 firebird vats problem?

the ignition comes on but wont start the starter works because its wired directly to a switch that runs to the battery ,ok when i put the key in and turn it the check engine light comes on as does the security light but when i hit the switch under the column the car starts and everything goes off also if i push the clutch all the way in nothing happens ,and if i let up a little on the clutch it starts,so is it the clutch switch or something,im baffled on this, and today when i shut the car off my fuel pump continued to run even after the ignition was shut off i know the fuel pump is tied into the oil pressure switch but before when it did that a while ago i just wiggled the connector on the oil switch and it shut off this time it didnt work by teh way im 17 years old and have done everything on this car myself bought it, pay for my own insurance, and i work on it its never been to a shop since ive owned it,im very proud of that fact just fillin ya in since ive had it ive done the clutch, full brake system, water pump, misc interior stuff,b@m ripper shifter,160 stat, and i did all the body work to it myself {needed new hood, headlights, fender, bumper and a little frame straighting,i know i probably sound like a dumb kid ,but i love my bird thanx for the help

Are you saying that if you let the clutch pedal out just a little bit, the car will start WITHOUT aid of the starter switch under the dash? If this is the case, than the clutch switch is probably bad.
