ecm questions

ok am going to change my 1991 tbi to 1986 tpi
to avoid any silly speedo probs would it be possible to use the tbi ecm to run the vats and accessories and piggyback the 1986 ecm to run the engine (tpi etc)

The '86 ECM does not require a VATS enable input, but keep the VATS module connected to the harness, as it will continue to control the starter enable relay. The VIN E TBI setup uses a speed buffer module that is external to the ECM, so the output of the speed buffer module may be connected directly to the '86 ECM. The TBI ECM may be removed, completely.
