Wierd hatch problem

My rear hatch pulldown is acting very strange, you have to hold down the release button for about 10 sec. for it to release and then hold it again for 10 sec. after slamming it, in order for it to relatch. Has anyone else had this problem if so what is it. Any help would be mutch appriciated.

Sounds like the bit that "grabs" onto the hatch is seizing up, or the motor is Kapput. Most likely motor, I'd say...pull it out, and do some voltage tests on it...
