Electric Speedo innacuracy
Electric Speedo innacuracy
Can anyone think of a reason why the electric speedo in my '91 RS seems to lose it's accuracy at speeds of ~70mph+ ? It seems to read much faster than I'm actually going, by about 10-15%. My tires are the correct size, and I have no reason to suspect the gearing on the VSS is incorrect. Is it possible there's some sort of electrical wierdness going on ?

Probley a worn plastic speedo gear on the magnetic pick up on the tranny or the sensor itself is bad. HOW do you all know it's off?? Mine is perfect and I have 88,000 right now. The sensor with out the gear is $50 bucks if you just want to replace it.

Be careful with those signs, they aren't as accurate as a rador gun pointed RIGHT at you. I would say your speedo is fine just that the sign isn't directed at you correctly.
