Gidday, I had a post on carbs with great feed back looking for more advise please, 84' 305 h/o L69 auto LHD, Qjet 17084208, 2873 HYB, I had a full service carb rebuild and tune up/K&N, came back great, then "wof" (new zealand road cert) the cert guy jacked it up from the front under the radiator channel (unknown to me) squashed the elec fan , on way home got hot, stopped check under hood fan ceased, 2 weeks to repair fan,while waiting for fan I had a new stereo fitted and the installer earthed a pos. wire, when I went to start the car there is a loud ticking comming from the carb, LHD side, I disconnected the elec connection top LHD above the fuel in,ticking stopped, now the car starts/drives with it connected or not gas bill huge, iddle 1200, I have had the car for 12 mths and didnt realise it has a red Ign. light on dash I have only had the orange "choke " light, I supose thats where I start get the Ign light going, then this is where I need help, the fan burnt out can that cause an electrical spike if so what poss. outcome ??, then the stereo guy earthing a wire (blew 10amp fuse ) what else could it have spiked ??, to start this loud ticking I have never heard before from the carb,only started after the fan/stereo nightmares, thanks in advance for any additional help,

that loud ticking is your mixture control soliniod. it is suppossed to click.
