O2 Sensor, Need HELP!

Will a disconnected O2 sensor cause a change in the ignition timing sequence? Just read that it would (could?) in the modification section. I disconnected it to change my valve cover gasket, can't reconnect it and now my car has a "miss" in the idle. So I'm afraid to drive it before i get this "miss" figured out!!!!

I'm not sure what the ECM algorithm does when it detects a faulty O2 sensor - it's possible that the spark curve is modified. If the M/C solenoid on the carb is not "clicking" while the engine isrunning, chances are that the mixture is very rich, which could make the engine miss. The oxygen sensor will need to be reconnected.

When the O2 sensor in the 83 Z goes bad we get a check engine light, but the car runs fine. Whe the O2 sensor in the 81Z goes out it pings like crazy when you hit the gas hard. O2 sensors are cheap, except at the dealer.

I replaced the Sensor, car runs great and it did ping at startup and a bit after warmup (i mean miss) but it is all good now, and it's great to have this thing back on the road after a 1 month vacation. (for the car, ran out of $$$). But i discovered it is a LG4, non-HO engine so now i have to make it better than those HO punks
