swapping 87 tpi into 67 ?'s
swapping 87 tpi into 67 ?'s
I have a 87 305 tpi that I want to drop into the "new" 67. Right now the 87 runs but is throwing a 34 code (vac pump I think) The air pump has been removed and the connecters are just hanging there. I do not want the air pump (also called the smog pump I believe) to be mounted on the 67. I belive that the 305 is running on the lean side because of this . How do I get around the air pump? I want to get it all in the car and working right before I build a 350 to put the tpi on. I know that I'll need to get a chip and different injectors for the 350 but I want the 305 to run for the summer. Any help would be appericated. Thanks in advance, Mike

code 34 is MAF sensor reading too low (air getting in after the MAF sensor... 'false-air')
The air divert solenoids can be ditched & the wiring chopped off with no ill effect along with the EVAP canister purge solenoid. The ECM does not monitior these.. just turns them on or off.
