VATS diagnostics

My question is this, On my Camaro with VATS it is giving me some problems starting. Runs fine but when turned off then try to restart it will occasionally not turn over. The Security light comes on for a few seconds then goes out. Then if I wait 5 minutes it will usually restart. All though earlier today it took 20 min. Plus I was fiddling with my alarm remote hopeing that maybe I hit the buttons in some weird a** sequence that it was not letting the car start.

A quick run down of what has been done to the car: In March some one tried to steal it. Trashed the column but could not get the car thanks to the VATS!! So I rebuilt the column with a new cylinder, plus had a "Circuit City noise maker" installed. That was all in March but I am just now having these problems. What I want to know is how can I check the VATS module when this happens agian? As in which wire can I ground on the starter enable relay? And what color is it? And location?

Any help will be great!! And sorry for the long post

If the security light is going out after 2 seconds, then it is not VATS. I could be the starter enable relay. Mine went bad and it would occasionally not start. Try replacing that and see if it helps. It is located behind the drivers side kick panel.

Is it the 1"x3" relay? If so I can unplug it and the car will start just fine. All though the alarm is wired into the relay on 3 or so wires.

The car will not start w/o it. You must have the wrong relay.

I think the 1*3 Relay you are mentioning is for the door locks.

I figured that one out already, but thanks. My problem ended up being my alarm. Has a starter kill feature that wen bad.

Thanks for all the insight
