testing open or closed loop
testing open or closed loop
Hi,
can I short the A&B term. on the ALDL connector while the engine is running on a carbed LG4 to check wheter or not I'm in open loop??? or is this only possible on fuel injected cars.
What are the effects of a torqueconverter not locking up???
Can a bad temp sensor and/or a code 32 cause a constant open loop???

Yes, if your CTS is not functioning properly, the ecm will not know the temperature and might think the engine has not attained the proper temperature to go into "closed" loop.

How can you tell if it's locking up or not? With this simple test:
Find a place to cruise at about 45mph. Without taking your foot off the gas, lightly depress the gas pedal (just enough to turn on the brake lights). Your RPMs should jump about 200 - 300 RPM.
