Head Lamp problems

Hey, this post is to all of you who know somting about electronics. Just recently my headlights stoped working. They just won't pop up but the lights will turn on, and if I manually turn the little **** to lift the lights they will retract when I push the switch to put them down. I was thinking maybe their was a sensor or something that was messing up or somthing making it think it were already up or something dumb, or maybe a loose groung. I mean it worked two days ago. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

I am pretty sure my head lamp motors are not broken figuring they will retract by themselves. Besides how would both of them break at the exact same time and still have the ability toautomatically lower the lights?

quick and dirty fix mentioned allows the vehicle to be safely driven at night as well as allowing the vehicle to pass any state mandated safety inspections. is a universal fix and will work regardless of what the electrical problem with the pop-up headlight motor system is.

I have just the opposite problem. I DIDN'T know (I do now...)what the manual ***** did. I gave them a couple of turns, and didn't notice anything. Now the lights go up and turn on, just not down when I turn them off. I can still manually turn them down. This sucks...
