What's wrong with my MSD ?

This is the second time this has happened in a weeks time. I go to start the car after it has sat for a couple of days and it turns over fine but won't start. I unhooked the 6AL box and it started fine. Then I reconnected it and it started right up again so I left it alone. I go out to start the car this morning to come home from work and the same thing-won't start. This time I just leave it unhooked. The only thing I see tying both times together is the fact that it was between 30-35 degrees both times. I've been using the box for about 3 years now and it's never given me a problem.
Any thoughts?

Have you tried swapping coils to see if your later-shot is shot? maybe unlikely but a symptom of a tired or damaged coil is the cold-start problems. I use the MSD blaster-3 with my 6AL box so I know there's no compatability problems.
Also wondering what kind of fusing you run on your MSD, or anything else in the wiring that might be affected by temperature.
MSD's are very reliable but nothing electronic is indestructable so it might be going out on you.
good luck on this

I thought the coil as well but it checks out. Wiring is straight forward and is according to MSD instructions. I also have the tach filter as well and it's still good.

would be a good idea to barrow someone elses coil just to eliminate it for sure. I would also unhook the tach & filter until I knew for sure it was the MSD box. The more things you can positively eliminate the closer you will be to knowing the problem.
good luck again

You should take a look at your 6AL rev limiter pill first, it may be on its way out.

My buddy had a similar problem but his would not run at all, we eventually found it to be the bloody little pill that was at fault after looking at EVERYTHING else first. (Murphy's law) Since then he always keeps spare pills on him of course.

I would also make sure that you always have 12+ volts available to your box and of course that your ground wire for the box is well connected. Your 3 year old wiring may have become deteriorated over the years. Many intermittent problems like yours end up being due to loose or bad grounds.

hope that helps you find your problem
