windshield wipers

the car has delay wipers. recently they started pulling this crap where they won't turn off. if you turn them to off they just keep on going. if you switch them to "hi" they stop wherever they are. any ideas? i'm thinking it's the switch. i just want some more feedback, on problems you guys have had. thanks for the help!

My RS does the same thing, except mine don't stop. So talk about a PITA, I have to disconnect the wire from the relay under the hood. The mech where I bought it from says its the switch. I just haven't had them fix it because he claims it will take two hours. I think he doesn't know what hes talking about, he says he has to take out the column???? I would say it is the switch to make a long story short.

I just put in intermittant wipers. To get to the switch, you need to pull the steering wheel, remove the lock plate, remove the turn signal switch, remove the ignition switch, then remove the plastic shroud. There is enough room to snake the wire from the switch down the lower part of the column. Took me maybe an hour after i bought the right tool (you need a special tool to remove the lock plate).

It might not be the switch. The electronics for the intermittant wipers is under the black cover thats on the wiper motor itself.
