Computer ign. timing control
Computer ign. timing control
i was wondering, if i replaced the non_functioning computer carb with a non_comp. controlled carb, will the timing still advance? i'm used to the SES light staring me in the face ( no knock sensor, speedo disconnected, no correctly working BARO sensor...etc) i am buying a vacuum adv. distributor for the 355, but i'm short on cash, and sick of 2 barrels.

Timing will not advance due to the computer, if that's what you are asking. Ignition advance on a CC vehicle [computer controlled] is hooked up through the carburetor, which is where all the variables are collected. The computer adjusts for certain preset variables to give the car its current timing. My advice, is if you can swap out for non-CC, it'll give you more control over the car, and better performance.

You NEED a non-CC distributor.
In the mean time you can get by with jumping two of the leads in the plug that would normally plug to your TPS. This will make the computer think you are at WOT all the time and it will give you full advance.
did you car also come with a MAP?
nevermind I see you call it a baro-sensor. If you hook up a good MAP the computer may operate the distributor normally until you can get a replacement.
