hvac and smog electrical
i have removed all of the smog equipment off of my 87 camaro and was wondering if there was anything that was directly conected between the smog equipment and my ac. i want to make sure that I am not missing a ground or a power wire when i decide to fix my ac. i bought the car and the ac was empty. i want to make sure when i get it refilled i wont have to worry about the electrical.
second it there any way to check to see if your ac compressor is bad. if i turn it to ac will i get an electrical current through the wires going to the compressor even though the system it empty. thanks for any help.

Shouldn't be a problem. As far as I know there is no real tie between the two. I think on some carb model they had a kicker to bump up idle, FI models do it with ECM. Never run the compressor dry. You can pull off the cycling clutch connector and measure it with a voltmeter. When AC is requested you will read 12 volts across the plug. If you recharge system you gonna run R-134. As long as it is evacuated might be a good time to replace the hoses with barrier type and make sure all O rings are the newer 134 compatible type.
